Maquette – Amelia Jones

My maquette is more of a starting point. My first set of lights has come in and I am using floss the length of the lights to see how many designs I can make with each EL piece. I have also outlined the battery box on the bottom of the shoe to see how big the cut would be if I decided to do so.

Great start! I think this piece has potential to look really cool, as it seems you’re looking to include a lot of intricate details. As someone who has made art with sneakers before, I’m really interested to see how these turn out!

The stitching looks really clean, and I like how you plan on hiding the battery box under the shoe. How do you plan on cutting out the sole of the shoe? Are you planning on using some equipment in the makerspace or collablab? With placing the battery under the shoe, running the the wire that connects the battery to the lights through the back of the heel could be a good way to prevent it from not being stepped on or damaged when you walk.

This is a really good starting point and I’m interested to see how the battery on the bottom comes into play. Overall, I think this project can look really cool!

I really like the design so far. I think a cool idea could be to stitch the light wires (don’t know what the real name is) that we looked at in class into the laces or something.
