Hey! My name is Amelia, and I’m from the Worcester county, MA (only 30 min away from WPI!). My background with is mainly in all things technical theater, especially lighting. I only really work in form of physical art, including lighting, sculptures, and even big immersive art
I try and fit art into every part of my life, I go to art shows and spend way too much money on Etsy and other personalized/cool art pieces. I attempt and be artistic in everything, from outfits to projects. Sadly I don’t have as much time as I wish I did for art because of school so I take any outlet I can find.
I have taken a few digital art classes here, but my main focus has always been lighting. I did a lot of lighting and set design for my high school theater productions, worked at the Hannover theater as a lighter assistant the summer of 2022, and built a huge immersive art experience for my high school senior project (photos and videos below).
My inspirations are confusing human experiences, like emotions. However, all human experiences are confusing for me, considering I am autistic. I got my diagnosis at the age of 18 but I’ve never really understood people in general, so my weird and creepy forms of art have always helped me. My senior project entitled “Shattered Reality” expresses the shared human experience of fear in many different capacities. “Shattered Reality” was built and grown exclusively from anonymous submissions of community members from my high school. I gave them the prompt “Write down your living hell” and let them interpret it however they wished. “Shattered Reality” is definitely the project I’m the most proud of, there were so many obstacles along the way and it still turned out absolutely amazing. The symbolism and representations of things like losing your loved ones or being tied down by meds came out better than I could have hoped, bringing the whole project together.
“Shattered Reality”
(note, I do not have photos or videos of while it was on display, but my pet snake Ivy was in the cage during the showing)

impressive!
There’s always so much that goes into designing lighting for theatre.
Colorful! The Use of color in the lighting for your photos is captivating and adds another layer of complexity to them.
Striking. I love the the colors of the lights and the ” Shattered Reality ” piece portraying well with what you felt and help portray for what many others feel.
thought-provoking: Your pieces relating to mental health are inspiring and can be very helpful for people
Clever – All your pieces seem very well thought out, each piece feels like there’s something extra beneath the surface that may not have been caught at first glance.
Colorful- I like the use of multiple lights in some of the photos like the one with the man in the glasses. I also like the colors you used with the heart and flowers!
