The biggest problem I’ve faced this week is the problem of making colorful semi-transparent disks that will rotate with certain frequencies to create a single overlapped picture. So, this week I’ve made some progress on creation of those disks, as well as ordered some of the necessary materials and samples.
Here you can see my first sketch: it is a single picture being divided into 6 parts and spread on 3 disks. Therefore, while disks are in certain positions, an overlap can be seen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, I decided to look up how to create DIY suncatchers because clear and colorful suncatchers could possibly be a solution I was looking for. First recipe was suggesting to use clear plastic beads. I ordered some of those on Amazon and made some experiments. Even though they are pretty in their own sense, that was not an effect I was looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the same YouTube page, I saw someone explaining how to use their DIY kits of stained glass. I thought that, maybe, using stained glass and soldering would be the easiest solution for me. Unfortunately, my kit didn’t come yet but I can shown what it will approximately look like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While I was experimenting with plastic beads in our oven, my roommate gave me a brilliant idea to use resin instead. So, we went to Michael’s and I started a new set of experiments. First, I tried to make a little figure and then implement it into the main set of resin. Despite the fact that it was my first time working with this material, the experiment was quite successful:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, I tried to imitate three layers that resin is supposed to work out, but those turned out pretty bad, so I’m not going to show it here but now I know an important detail about resin: it can be cured on the plastic tape and be successfully detached.
This information can help me a lot in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
