This week was quite a doozy, as everyone following along may remember from last week’s post, I was faced with debugging and fixing an error in my code that caused the entire program to crash whenever it was run. I’m happy to report that after days of hunting I finally found the problem and corrected it. The issue lay in calibrating the size of the projection to the size of the screen, the process my computer was trying to run was so intensive that it would simply give out. It took me another couple of days to figure out and implement another calibration method.
This brings me to my current situation, the program is all but complete, nothing left to do but implement any 3D models I want to use. But with only a week left to work on it, and I’m a week behind where I wanted to be, the scope of my project has changed.
I believe the best course of action is instead of creating and performing a play, I’m going to create an interactive gallery. If I were to finish my original idea, I would not only have to make all of the models for the props, which requires planning out ahead of time which ones to make based on a story but also create background scenes and commands for moving the story along.
An interactive gallery would allow the audience to choose a prop and a background and move around themselves. This way, I can be much more creative with my choice of props and I can spend more time on the creative and artistic side as opposed to programming.
Let me know if anyone has any cool ideas for props or backgrounds!
