My name is Mason Thyng, I’m a senior at Worcester Polytechnic Institute working towards a degree in aerospace engineering. I was born and raised in a small rural town in southern New Hampshire. Some of my hobbies include working on various coding projects, playing video games, hiking, cooking, and building potato cannons, the last of which I personally consider a form of art. While I admittingly don’t have as much experience in creating digital art, I have taken a few college courses on 3D modeling using tools like ZBrush and Maya. However, if you count more solids-based modeling software like Inventor, Fusion 360, or Solidworks, I have a few years of experience up my sleeve. I’d also say that I’m comfortable with a couple of coding languages. While I haven’t received any formal education, I have been practicing coding since my freshman year of high school and have taught myself Python and C#, but I also have experience in others such as C++, HTML, and JavaScript. My experience also extends a bit to working with computers and controllers such as Raspberry Pi, Arduinos, Window’s console, and Linux. While I don’t spend much of my own time creating art, I’m currently working on a couple of small sprites for a game my friends and I are making. I love the look of pixel art, especially from older video games like the Legend of Zelda and even modern games like Dead Cells or Blasphemous, and have drawn much inspiration from their styles.

Other Artwork of Mine:

Funny – Once I saw the fish with legs, I couldn’t help but laugh. Other than that, I thought your sprites and Kratos model were pretty cool.
quirky – I love how your art has such a sense of personality and fun in it
Funny- I love art with a sense of humor and you definitely were able to accomplish that in a lot of your works. The Kratos model was also very cool, but my favorite by far was the fish with legs.
Quirky – I appreciate how much you integrate humor and your love for video games into your projects.
Inventive – Throughout the various forms of your art, they all have some uniqueness to them, something that you wouldn’t normally see. It’s great. The cardboard structure reminds me of some of those funky architecture sculptures I’ve seen architects put together for art, and also have to say, I would agree with potato canons being a form of art. Definitely something that requires a unique approach.
Quirky – Seeing your art put a smile on my face because I feel like I can see your personality through your work. I really like the tavern scene, where I it looked so real I thought it was a picture.
Funny – the fish with legs caught me off guard and I am so glad it did. I absolutely love it and think that it needs to be incorporated into the final project!
