Hey everyone, Im Jakob Sperry. Some people call me Jakob, some call me Sperry (I slightly prefer Sperry but idk). I find that art fits into my life in the way that i view the world. I see everything as art and I find meaning and beauty in everything. Language is an art, the world is art, my friends are art. I have made art in a few mediums but mostly woodworking and sculpture. I have also done a bunch of programming and am very familier with arduino, 3D printers, Laser cutters and so fourth.
Some of my other creative outlets and insperations are rock climbing, sketching, exploring conversations with my friends. My insperations are kinetic artists and experience artists (idk what to call it) like Arthur Ganson, Jeff Liberman, Olifur Elison, James Turrell.
Recently, i worked on a project with my friend zeke exploring dodecohedrans. We made many dodecohedrans (some of which are below).
Impressive – I liked how various your art work is from modeling to photography. I thought the idea of making dodecohedrans is pretty unique within itself.
Inventive – You’ve made a lot of unique works of art! I like your variety of different mediums and styles.
Detailed- I feel like because there is a lot of emptiness in your pieces it draws the eye to take in the components in the piece. It feels like there is extreme amount of care put into the layout of each piece which makes me realize the intricacies. This is especially seen in second row, middle image.
Impressive- You have the skillset to bring life to ideas and the drive to keep creating. Very cool.
Striking – All your art is really good and creative! Some of it may be fairly simple ideas, but it all leaves quite an impression. To be honest you could show me those images and say they’ve been done by someone who’s been doing this as a living for a while and I’d fully believe you! Really cool stuff.
Inventive – I like the diversity within your art where it is all very creative and each one has its own story. I also like how some of them are simplistic but still say a lot.
Detailed – The woodwork you have done is beyond stunning. I love the different things that you’ve made, those chess pieces seem like they required long hours of precision work.
