Polish and Present: First Video Edits

on

This week I took a new set of pictures and videos using a Canon EOS Rebel T7 that I rented from the ATC. There were definitely some more lessons learned here. The hardest part was getting the shot to autofocus in the dark. I took photos and videos over a couple evenings and I struggled the first night to be able to get decent focus. After consulting with my photographer friend, he suggested that I manually set up the focus and to not readjust it in between shots. This ended up working! The end product will not have consistent lighting and photo/video quality, but I don’t believe that will be too distracting.

The goal of this week is to practice how the final product will be presented. That means figuring out the packaged product I would like to bring to class. My final project will be in the format of a video that will show the process of creating the photos, followed by the final edited photo. I have already practiced with editing photos with Adobe Lightroom, so I went through some basic Adobe Premiere Pro video editing tutorials, and here are my end results.

Clearly these photos don’t necessarily correspond to the movements in each of these videos, except for the last video. I made the mistake of taking the videos at the end of my shooting session when my lighting conditions had changed. I tried to increase the exposure in the videos and decrease the noise using Adobe Premiere Pro, but it did not seem to improve the quality of the video. There will be one more photo session after this set with a higher quality camera and proper lighting to then be produced into a final video.
