About:
I created The Things You Do to Me in order to show how people can influence one another whether it be social anxiety, love, fear, etc. I showed this by having engraved acrylic hearts of two different styles and lit them in sequentially in order to make it look like the heart is beating. The speed of the heart beat changes with how close you are to the piece. The closer you are the faster the heart beats. If you are quite enough you can hear the soft beating of the heart (this is present in the first clip of the video). I chose to document this piece through video because it is meant to be experienced as it is beating not in static pictures.

Reflection:
Over the course of the term I have reached may obstacles. My final project is very different from my original concept however I feel like it still possesses the same meaning. The iterations I went through are first using EL wire, then frosted glass etched with glass etching cream, and finally laser engraving acrylic. I ended up like the laser engraving design far more than my original EL wire idea. I learned so much over the period of this course including but not limited to: how to code my Arduino, how to control an LED strip using a ultrasonic sensor and an Arduino, and how to use a laser engraver. I’m so proud of how far I came in such a short term and I am happy that my message is able to be shared.
