Polish & Present… more like failure week

on

This week was less of an aesthetic focus than I would like and more of a mad scramble. My 42×34″ acrylic panel completely snapped in half forcing me to purchase a new one and redrill all 500 holes again. Nightmare.

Cracked acrylic. This cracking spider webbed out from hole to hole until the entire sheet split in half.
The completed frame for the array. It is made of 2×4″s with L-brackets fastening the corners of the acrylic.
Using a soldering iron to melt a hole into each ping pong ball to sit over each LED.
Inserted the LEDs into the holes and hot glued them in place.
Hot glued each ping pong ball down. The array is almost complete. The final LED strip is what I have been using in my preliminary circuit to test the code.
My preliminary circuit. The problem I have been having is only the first LED in the string would light, but thankfully someone in class mentioned it is most likely the lack of power driving the LED that is the issue which I think to be true. Currently I have been just running the ESP and LEDs off of my USB port from my laptop. I do have a 70A 5V power supply I will wire in that should get this Ping Pong Ball light wall working hopefully!
