I was hoping the viewer would be able to experience the beauty of the colorful balloons shining in the night sky. I wanted to portray the scene of the hot air balloons that fly, perhaps leaving the viewer wishing they could experience it in real life. In order to achieve these goals, over the period of this term, I created hot air balloons using different sized round ornaments and plastic cups with tissue paper modge podged on in different patterns. I added flickering tea lights and string lights in the ornaments to give the effect of the fire that allows the balloons to fly. I also created a background scene of the mountains in Cappadocia using colored pastel pencils. I added string lights to the back of the paper to give them a small glowing effect as well. Finally I assembled the pieces together in a black box. I used fishing line to hang the balloons at different heights to give a 3D effect of them flying away. Here is the video with the final piece. I hope it leaves you wanting to see the hot air balloons in Turkey in real life!!

Credits: The audio for the video is from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJO0oXbBr_o.
