This past week was eventful to say the least. I had to make a few new parts to accommodate for the changes I had to make to the project but I like how it turned out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, I decided to make a new front panel because it would have been easier than trying to properly align the title to holes. I went back to the laser cutter for the third time this term, and it wouldn’t be the last. There I made the new panel and an acrylic cut out to diffuse the light. I sanded one side of the acrylic to diffuse the light better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next event was my utter failure to wire the project together the first time. I had multiple breadboards and the worst wire wraps you have seen. But the worst part was that the cable management was more of a nightmare than I thought. I had to rewire it this weekend which is why I did not make this post until now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After rewiring and making the final pieces this weekend I am much more satisfied with the result now, despite still being a mess. I call it organized chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last change to the project was an addition to the housing to make the front panel stand up vertically. I did this for two reasons, one the battery I use has a power threshold that makes it fall asleep if not enough power is being drawn from it (which is the case when most of the lights are off). As such I wanted easy access to the wake button for when I\u2019m using the lightboard. Two, I did not want to break any connections or have a problem later and could not solve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
