I’ll start my maquette by saying that I unfortunately do not have one. While starting to work on my maquette and look into a shopping list of supplies I might need to create my window idea I began to become a little disinterested in my ideas and began thinking to another light artest I had seen. I kept thinking about Liu Dao’s<\/a> work and couldn’t get it out of my head. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I came up with another idea. I wanted to create my own version of this art. I wanted to combine what I had seen from other people who had bought old art from places like goodwill and painted their own additions onto it, but instead do it with light art. I brainstormed a few ideas using art I had found on Facebook Marketplace in combination with LED Matrices and LCD Screens from Adafruit and came up with a few ideas. However, before I make any purchases I plan to visit Goodwill and Savers early this week to see if I can find any particularly inspiring works of art there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Above are two Facebook Marketplace finds that gave me a few starting ideas. For the piece on the left I thought about putting an LED Matrix behind the sky to allow it to change colors to a sunset, or maybe have a sun with clouds floating by. Additionally, on the deck of the boat using an LCD display to show a person waving on the deck of the sail boat. For the piece on the right I thought about placing flickering LEDs in each of the lights and windows as well as a person drinking enjoying a cup of coffee. To add an additional level of interactivity I was thinking about potentially making the sky change colors based on the time or the ambient lighting around the art. Also I could potentially use a distance or motion sensor to have the people in the painting stop what they’re doing and wave when someone gets close. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
