My name’s Jeff, and I’m an international student from China.
Art fits into my life as something that allows me to express my interests in subjects ranging from Saturday morning cartoons to giant robots, and it’s one of the very few subjects that, despite being challenging, still motivates me to learn more about it. My goal is to be able to create character or mechanical designs for game studios, comics or animation studios.
I have been doing digital art for the past 2 years, and I’ve taken art courses including 2D animation, digital painting and figure drawing. I’ve worked as an artist for multiple game jams, and helped as a concept artist to create a mobile game that is currently on Google Play and App Store called Cafe Cat. I’ve been drawing in pencil since high school, but only started taking it seriously after I got into college.
As for other creative arts I like to practice, I frequently build model kits, with most of them being Bandai’s Gundam model kits.
There are plenty forms of games and media that have been inspirational to me as a person and an artist. I’ve grown up watching sci-fi and mecha animations like Transformers G1, Akira, Space Battleship Yamato, Mobile Suit Gundam, Mazinger Z, Getter Robo and Gurren Lagann, over-the-top animations done by studios like Gainax and TRIGGER (the studios that created Evangelion and SSSS.GRIDMAN). I’ve also enjoyed watching Tokusatsu shows like Ultraman, Kamen Rider and Godzilla because of their usage of special effects, their legacy left in both animations and games, and the rich moral themes some of them provide, especially from Ultraman and Godzilla. As for games, I’ve grown up playing action-based games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Mega Man, Monster Hunter and Dark Souls, especially with the art styles of the first two inspring me as a creator. All the forms of media I’ve mentioned tend to share something in common, which is a vibe of Saturday morning cartoons that usually involve swashbuckling adventures, visions of a future influenced by technology, themes of hope, bravery and persistence, and most importantly, fights involving giant robots.
As for something I’d like people to know about me, is that I don’t really see myself as a good artist at all due to a lack of self esteem and the oddity of my works compared to other artists, as well as the fact that I started off pretty late. However, I am willing to learn and improve at anytime. I also tend to be very anxious over both my work and presenting it due to diagnosed anxiety.

The art style is well thought out and impressive. I like the style and do not believe could come close to this mastery of this style.

You know I love your art style Jeff, it’s always perfect amounts of hard edges and curves that make it feel so alive and in constant motion.

Badge: shiny
The linework on your art is super clean and the color pallets of each of them seem very well thought out and purposeful. I could definitely see your 2D work being in a printed comic.
Badge: Familiar. Okay yeah I’m cheating but like. You’ve shown me these and every one I’m like oh yeah I remember that one it was awesome.
Badge: Striking
All of the artwork has a very consistent and unique style, that stands out well in a cohesive manner.
You got the striking badge! Your art style blends rigidity and motion so well your characters could be doing any pose and they would look like they belong on the cover of a comic book.
Shiny – Not only are the robots you draw shiny, all of your work is super polished! The practice and study displayed is truly amazing.

Badge: Detailed, Colorful, Quirky
Your Gudam artworks are very detailed and capture the mechanical feel, while your original artworks are rather colorful with a unique art style that reminds me of some Sega properties.
Badge: Detailed
I really like how you are extremely detail oriented in your work, adds a lot of character to the pieces.
