Introductions: Jake Matthews

Hello,
I am Jake Matthews, from Sherman, CT.
I enjoy creating things, especially when there’s an interesting story to tell.
That being said, I don’t have a whole lot of experience with art making.
I’ve done some small drawings, and have some practice with simple 3D models, but otherwise tend to stick to conceptual mediums
I’d like to improve by creating a distinct style for myself, either in the 2D or 3D space.
I’ve been making games for years now, and have experience in both Unity and Unreal, though I tend to stick mainly to the programming side of things.
I’m excited to learn more about the artistic process for games, and hope it can help add some versatility to my skillset.

I see your art as inventive because of the variety in your art and how it is from different media sources that are interesting and new from the last.

Your fantasy work feels right out of a tabletop/board game. It reminds me of writing stories and drawing maps for D&D sessions. It also has a bit of a retro feeling with the bright colors and top down views.

Kind of jumping on the bandwagon here, but I would describe your art as familiar because I could definitely see your map in some type of board game or strategy game.

you’re off to a great start if you’ve only began 3D and 2D art. The Gonk droid is a very faithful recreation.

Explanation: That dragon sprite is so cute, he’s just such a little creature !! Sadly the gif part isn’t loading on my end, but from the still frame I *can* see he’s absolutely adorable 🙂
