Hi. I am Zach. I’m from East Providence which is about an hour away. Currently, art is just a hobby but I’m working on developing the skills I can apply to a career in making games or other form of media. I’ve always been interested in Art. As a kid, I was fortunate enough to take art classes in providence. I started drawing a lot when I was young, like most kids, but the hobby just stuck with me. It’s an interest that’s allowed me to make connections, be in classes and collaborate with people I don’t usually find in my circle.
WPI IMGD courses introduced me to 3D art. There is so much amazing 3D artwork online and the more I learn 3D art concepts the more I appreciate those who have mastered it. I’ve spent time trying to develop these skills for myself and I find it interesting how techniques of each discipline, Animation, 3D Modeling, 3D Sculpting, etc apply to others in surprising ways.
In Highschool, I was given a drawing tablet. Since then I’ve been learning digital painting in the free time I can carve out of my schedule. I recently decided to take my art a little more seriously after switching my major from CS to IMGD. Currently, I’m focused on improving at design, composition, rendering and other fundamental art concepts.
The only game I’ve ever completed was a senior project in highschool. I worked on a team with two of my close friends. I created the sprites, animations and a short comic component. One friend programmed it in Unity and another had the role of Game Designer and Writer for the Comic. He led us to core decisions in the concept and story aspect. Although we had our specialized roles, a lot of our time was spent collaborating as a team. It was an interesting process. Especially the early iterative process of the art and design phases. Trying to understand other people’s ideas was the most challenging part.
When I was younger, I spent a lot of time with Game Maker when it was free. I made a few scenes of games I was unable to complete on my own. Each project taught me new concepts. I no longer have the files from these projects.
In my free time I like to play guitar, paint, and program small projects. I find movies, fashion, and music a source of artistic influence. As for games, I haven’t bought one in a while. I prefer to experience games with other people whether it’s watching a playthroughs or sitting on a couch with a few friends. Sometimes I play games from when I was younger purely to recapture that original sense of fun.

Badge: Striking
Oh man, those digital paintings are drop-dead gorgeous. I especially love the one of the guy holding the remote control. So much detail in the clothes, but not the face… It’s fascinating!
Badge: Impressive
Your 2D illustrations are absolutely amazing as well as your 3D work! They all look really polished and professional.
Badge: Dark
All your work is good, but your best pieces have a darkly moody yet sill tangible vibe about them that really make the viewer feel a sense of mysterious unease but still a engaging pull which helps them appreciate your artistry all the more.
Badge: Dark
Your use of shadows is extremely impressive! You do a great job of using minimal colors to show off very detailed scenes, and on similar note, your attention to detail is really amazing. Super cool and I love your art vibes!
Badge Given: Gorgeous
I like the house picture and it reminds me of a location in Providence by HP Lovecraft’s house. I also thought your painting of what looks like to be Matt Smith controlling a remote-controlled device to be particularly striking.
Badge: Gorgeous
I absolutely love your paintings. I usually would describe wonderful works of art as beautiful, but gorgeous also does the trick. Beautiful work.
Thought provoking: I live how both your landscape pieces are familiar setting, but leave room for the viewers imagination to decide what location or setting they take place in.
I think I will go with striking since your work evokes different feelings for me.
Impressive
As was mention in other comments, your use of lighting and color is very striking. However, what I notices the most was the sophistication of your cloth anatomy in the painting of the man with the remote controller. As someone who has struggled with this subject for as long as I have done art, seeing it so effortlessly on display is super impressive to me and I cannot wait to see what other stuff you make!
Dark
Your pieces are fantastic and I really like the darker aesthetic that many of them have! I think my favorites are the skull and leaning man.
Gorgeous- Your animations are incredibly smooth and fluid. The swim animation specifically nails the feeling of swimming really well- the way she moves like a wave, I can imagine this showing up in a AAA game.
Dark
That skull piece is really cool. I like all of the shadows and darker colors used. It gives it a really spooky, shadowy feel.
Badge: Detailed
I just love the amount of detail some of your pieces have. The skull has very prominent features of it that show that you must have studied the various shapes of it thoroughly. I think you will have a really good time drawing concept art.
Gorgeous!
That tree is undoubtedly the one that impressed me the most. Whether it is the gradual darkening of the leaf color from the canopy to the top of the tree, or the texture of the trunk part, people feel the pursuit of detail. It’s worth learning!
