Zachary Adams – Wave Survival Concept

Overview

In Harvest, you are a surviver living on a farm, who protects their land from aliens using audio based weapons. The game is intended to be an arcade style experience where you die attempting to beat your record and develop strategies to live longer next time.

Inspiration and Previous Works

The visual style of the game will be stylized realism. Shapes will be exaggerated to create a visual language that communicates important objects to the player. The focus will be on creating a colorful and harmonius environment rather than a realistic one.

Target Audience and Player Experience

Player base will likely be ages 14 – 22, that enjoy survival games and arcade style shooters and anyone wanting to take a break from mentally taxing activities to have a bit of fun, as this game doesn’t require intense thinking.

Game Mechanics

Enemy spawn is handled by a Wave System. This system works on a clock. After the last enemy has been killed a cool down timer of 30 seconds begins. Once this timer reaches zero a new round has begun

Players collect Points by killing enemies which they can use to repair objects and access better weapons.

Although many games of this style have been successful with a first person camera perspective. The Camera Point of View in this game will be a tight third person perspective. However, The camera will not show the entire character model. Players get a clearer sense of their relative scale to other objects and interaction with other objects is less disorienting.

Theme And Player Experience

The theme of this game Is resourcefulness. You must manage your time effectively and you must be as efficient as possible. In a multiplayer experience, teammates may assign  each other certain roles.  will have certain tasks to complete before rejoining in the center to defend their gear. For Example, Repair weapon hardware, Repair Base

I love the concept of the setting! It genuinely feels like a place aliens might show up lol. Why audio weapons? Why does audio kill aliens? What kind of audio?
