I experimented with some designs for the modular portions of the environment, but I realized there will be lots of bits and bobs over larger modular pieces that I will be modeling. I also worry about cluttering the environment too much with complicated designs and assets, but that will be something that will hopefully be figured out and fall into place as I start modeling and assembling. I definitely want to lean into the steampunk aesthetic, but I also dont want to come across as a factory. This should still appear as a home while fitting the setting. I will try to implement gears, pipes, and bolts where I can, but I will need to play around with how prominent they are to still have some element of home comfort.

Various inspirations of implimenting steampunk aesthetic that I think can still be seen as homey.
The balcony beams (I don’t know what they’re called) are great. It feels like the zany, and rustic aesthetic I would expect from something that’s steampunk.
