Magic Shop – Modular Assets

These are the modular assets I have done so far. All the structural pieces are complete and most of the large assets are completed. I did a lot of pre-planning for my pieces to make sure they all line up in unity’s grid system and to make sure I have the least amount of unique pieces possible. I focused on getting all assets done for the main shop and any additional modular assets that are unique to the workshop and bedroom I will come back to if I have enough time.

This is my planning doc to plan tile sizes and where to use the different modular pieces.
These are all the structural pieces for the main room, including all the walls, floor/ceiling tiles, beams, stairs, and an additional platform piece. [additional note: the floor tiles will be reused for the ceiling with a different texture]
These are the large assets I have done so far. One of two cabinets, a shelf piece, a barrel (still a work in progress), and a set of four counter pieces. These include a 3 tile center, 2 tile center, corner, and end cap. All that is left for me to model is a second cabinet, a flower pot, and a thin counter piece. Any other modular assets are smaller clutter items that will be done at a later point.

Texturing

For the walls and floor tiles, I plan to make procedural textures using Substance Designer and Substance Painter for the smaller detailed parts (like the door and window frames). I am still deciding if I am going to hand paint the textures or sculpt, bake and use procedural textures for the rest of the models.
