Here is the final version of my Magic Shop Demo. This project is a simple walking demo of a small magic shop tended to by an interesting witchy shopkeep. The environment was crafted using a modular workflow with modeling done in Blender, texturing done in Substance Painter and Designer, and presented in Unity. All indoor environment assets were created by me over the course of the 7 weeks. The character was modeled and textured by me, utilizing a rig from mixamo, with a majority of character animations created by hand in Blender. Finally, I utilized Devin Patel’s audio for the atmospheric music in my project.

Final Reflection
This project was a great experience for me as I feel like I tend to worry about perfection in my art. The 7-week deadline helped me to understand when something is good enough and not to get caught up on one thing for too long. As I already had a decent amount of experience with environment art, the technical skills weren’t all that new. However, I still learned a lot in terms of Unity, modular workflow, lighting, character animation, and composition. I’m really proud of myself for managing my time well and creating so many solid assets as well as implementing them in engine. Some of my biggest accomplishments include: animating my character and setting up triggers and transitions within Unity, creating candle flames with emissive light that successfully utilize a billboard effect, and creating dynamic lighting in my scene. The biggest lesson this project has taught me is how to manage my time and scope on a project to create a good final product. I am truly proud of how this project turned out.

This game is seriously awesome. The environment is so professional, even more so than many indie games that get released nowadays. I agree with the one criticism said in class – I think the skeleton should make some kind of sound when you interact with them. Of course, having dialogue and whatnot would be amazing, but I don’t expect you to add that. For an environmental demo, however, this game is *amazing*.
