I utilized Mixamo to create the rig for my character and imported the animation and rig to Blender to create custom animations. I used the Mixamo to Blender addon to easily create the animation controls. The character has a looping Idle, an Idle to Alert, Standing Idle, and Alert back to Idle. The main idle animation will include a book that the NPC is reading and will be put down at their side when alert. I’m working on creating the standing idle more interesting as it is a basic Mixamo animation and one more interaction animation.
I love how seamless the transitions look between the idle floating and standing animations. In my opinion, I think it would look nice if when the magic shop owner begins t stand, he puts one foot down at a time.
I really like the animations and it makes this character into an interesting NPC. When I see this charcter I expect them to talk to me but the character seems very approachable. If you would be able to throw in a potion seller reference this will win game of the year.
Those standing up and sitting down animations are *astounding*. Literally amazing. I love the floating up and down idle too. However, the standing idle is so subtle he looks like he’s unanimated – I would suggest moving him around a bit more.
