Carrie Game Design Proposal

The game will involve the player running errands for their tired wife. The player will have to run around an environment, possibly kill enemies, to gather the tools/items they need to bring back home. They will have to avoid certain enemies and locate items in places that might be difficult to reach.

The main character is a small husband cat who feels that his wife has been doing a lot of work and that he has not been helping her enough. In order to show his appreciation for her hard work as well as his love for her, he will venture out to get items, as well as gifts for her.

The setting will be in a forest area that extends into a busy bazaar street. The world is colorful and simple, even cartoony. The more the player collects items that they need, the happier their wife will become. The intended audience is gamers who appreciate low poly art styles, simple game mechanics, and the satisfaction of collect-a-thon games. It is for all ages, but mostly would be appreciated by adults who relate to being tired and depressed. The player experience is upbeat, lighthearted, and satisfying. Players will feel a loving connection to the characters. The art style will be cartoony, and low poly. The focus will be on filling the area with lots of things and making it busy.

You’re drawings are so, SO cute! I can definitely see myself being drawn to this game by the art style alone. Will there be any other NPC characters that the player character can interact and talk with other than the main cats wife?

  2. Victoria R says:

I already love the husband and wife characters. Having this journey be done for the wife is so cute and adorable. You mentioned possibly having to fight enemies to collect certain items. What items would need to be collected that would be guarded by scary enemies?

  3. Percy says:

I love how clearly I can picture the art style of this game! It sounds adorable and very fun to play. I also love that they’re cats – it’s a good subversion of game character tropes. My question is, what are the items you are picking up, and what are the enemies you are fighting? And why are you fighting enemies?

Your cats are absolutely adorable! This is a super cute and pretty unique take on the collection-type games and I think you have a really solid idea for the art style. What would be the enemies for the player and how do they fit into the environment or story?

  5. Hannah says:

The sleepy wife character is adorable, and your concept is too!! What kind of environment will the player be in, and how will the player actually collect the items? Are they like, floating things on the ground they have to walk over, or is it more? Also, how will the player see the list of things they need to get?

  6. Oliver says:

I like the concept and it reminds me of a game I recently played, Wandersong, about a Bard doing tasks to help people and the world. Also just to understand the character more, will the husband accidentally make mistakes in the game or will he be efficient in doing the tasks?

  7. John says:

I really love this concept! It sounds like a nice and relaxing game. The whole game sounds like a great time! I was wondering if there was going to be explicit combat in the game or will it be full-on avoiding enemies as you mentioned before?

  8. David says:

I really like the fun and lighthearted nature that this concept gives out! It may be fun to put some strange objects on the list as bonus items or something.
Will the player have any interesting movement abilities?

  9. Kurtis says:

I love your art style with the cats, it seems so fun and you are able to express quite a bit of their emotions through the eyes. I also think the core gameplay loop will compliment the art as a nice relaxing game. Because your main characters will be cats, are you looking to animate their walking style or even having idle animations where the main character can sit and like its fur?

  10. Lash says:

I love your character designs! (Especially, the wide because I relate lol). Are you going to include any character conversations? I feel like you could do something similar to a visual novel with text at the bottom with some audio expressions.

What a lovely story! This kind of story of paying for the beloved is undoubtedly very attractive to me. Making my wife happier through the collection of items is undoubtedly a very effective positive feedback, which can give players a considerable sense of accomplishment.
One of my questions is whether players need gold coins if they need to buy gifts? If there is currency in the game, how can I obtain it? I have an idea here: everything we want to collect can be collected repeatedly. After giving it to the wife, we can choose to trade with others in the town, or barter for rarer items (a pair of running shoes that increase your running speed or a sculpture that your wife likes) .
At the same time, is it necessary to design a simple puzzle for the player? For example, move the position of a wooden barrel, or click buttons in order. I just want to know if you have any ideas in this regard.
