The big mistake I made with this was not making a serious piece of concept art. I had a very tiny rough sketch of my character on my original concept sketch for the overall project, and I based most of my modeling off of that. This ended up being really difficult, and retrospectively I realized that his design would have benefitted greatly from a more formal concept piece. In the end the character ended up being a lot more bland than I would have hoped because of this.
