Still Life of Hand In Chest<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

The disembodied look of a wooden articulated hand emerging from a chest captured my attention by setting an eerie still life. \u00a0I made the center of my piece darker to make it the focal point. As you look away from the center, my lines become lighter and rougher. \u00a0I got inspiration from looking at Leonardo Da Vinci’s work. I really like his technique of getting the basic form down and adding highlights and shadows, but retaining a \u00a0rough and open style.<\/p>\n

A line of light guides the viewer from the foreground to the background of this photograph. As I passed a parking garage in Philadelphia I was intrigued by the imaginary line created by light in this scene. I also wanted to draw a contrast between the security camera mounted on the clean, almost pristine metal walls and the deteriorated, dirty, almost hidden wall to the right of the photo. I took this photo in color and then converted it to Black and White for my Urban Photography class at Moore College of Art.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
