I decided to encode the conversations I have with other people about how I define being Agender. Agender refers to a person who does not have a gender, and I do agree with that. I do not have a gender, however that’s because I feel comfortable identifying as either a woman, man, or enby. I don’t have a preference in how people refer to me in that regard. Some people would argue that I would fall under the Genderfluid identity then, but that doesn’t fit me. My gender doesn’t change or move between these three identities, instead I feel as if they work and exsist together at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To convey that, the lower left symbol is composed of three sphere with colors to represent the three gender identities: pink for being a woman, blue for being a man, and purple for being an enby (one of the Nonbinary flag colors). Those three spheres are contained in a green torus, one of the colors from the Agender flag. In the upper right symbol consists of two torus shapes and a sphere with all three of the Agender flag colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because I have a slightly different or more specific definition of what Agender is for myself, I have had people disagree with me or express confusion. Which is fair, because I’m not even sure if I’m explaining it the best. The positioning of these symbols is important, because in visual communication the right side of the view is seen as the position of power. By having the traditional or better known definition of Agender in the upper right area of the view, that visually communicates that they are correct and control how the identity is defined. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the next phase of this piece, I want to include an arrow going through the left symbol and pointing up to the right symbol, almost like it is negating what the left symbol is conveying. I’d like that to be drawn after a period of time, then the right symbol fades in after a few seconds, and finally I wanted to includes quotes or phrases from conversations I have had with people where they have expressed disagreement or confusion. The quotes and phrases would float above the right symbol and build into a word cloud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Has anyone gotten the sketch tool to work, and if so do you have a reference that you used?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
