This design is meant to be built into gloves. The idea is simple;create two gloves and attack Makey parts to one, and Arduino parts to the other. One hand would wield an Arduino pressure sensor on the palm, using clenched hand motions to affect an object with data. The second hand would wield three stripes of aluminum on the back, which would be attacked to Makey clips to respond to touch. Both of these components would be connected to my laptop, and in turn connected to the art program in Max that would be altered and changed by each gesture. Two people can integrate themselves into this device, giving each one partial control over a single aspect of a multifaceted art piece.

My research will mainly involve making a patchwork of multiple programs together, but more importantly, I intend to focus on the gloves themselves, and how to properly integrate them. I have no intention of taking the glove apart if it’s unnecessary, but I will do so if absolutely necessary. I intend to use the programs that allowed for interaction through MakeyMakey and Arduino of course, to make sure each piece works together cohesively. Thus, I can not only connect two users together into one art piece, but also combine two similar systems into a single Frankenstein creation.

In short, each ski glove would be connected to the computer on the cable, so care will be necessary. Additionally, each chip is going to be attached to the side of the glove, or some similar area that won’t be damaged due to experimentation. This is gonna be a major priority, and must ensure a balance between structural security and proper function.

As an artist, I want to ask you all, what aspects should each glove be responsible for? I’m thinking one can affect the color of the piece, while another controls the shapes or some other aspect of the image.

My concept for this particular piece is somewhat inspired by my previous MakeyMakey project, but with more of an intimate quality to it.
