{"id":1672,"date":"2021-10-03T11:49:45","date_gmt":"2021-10-03T15:49:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.joshuarosenstock.com\/teaching\/imgd3200-a21\/?p=1672"},"modified":"2021-10-05T12:17:00","modified_gmt":"2021-10-05T16:17:00","slug":"final-project-concept-sketch-red-thread","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.joshuarosenstock.com\/teaching\/imgd3200-a21\/lcani\/final-project-concept-sketch-red-thread\/","title":{"rendered":"Final Project Concept Sketch- Red Thread"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>For my sketch, I wanted to base it around a Chinese proverb- \u201cAn invisible red thread&nbsp;<strong>connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance.<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break<\/strong>.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I want to display how people&#8217;s lives become intertwined through an animation showcasing the length of a red thread growing, to convey how throughout your life, you will become tied to every individual you meet one way or another. In this video, I made a flipbook trying to highlight how over time, the thread will grow and tangle across the page, which is supposed to be a replacement for a screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"https:\/\/www.joshuarosenstock.com\/teaching\/imgd3200-a21\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2021\/10\/IMG_7395.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Research-wise, I need to learn what command I need in max to trigger something to expand, to display the impact of the red thread\/connection. Additionally, I need to look into how I can incorporate multiple users in triggering this effect because thus far I&#8217;ve only relied on single-user-based projects. Lastly,I need to figure out how to make objects fade on their own in Max after the users stop interacting with the piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> I intend to use the MakeyMakey to trigger the thread growing. Each time a trigger linked to the alligator clip is pressed, it will showcase the thread&#8217;s growth. I believe linking an alligator clip to a piece of red thread would have been a nice way to tie the project together, but the thread is not very conductive.
