Sydney’s Interactive Touch Input Sketch

I used the input sketch phase to do a sort of proof-of-concept for my idea. It’s just a prototype and I’m hoping to remake it to look cleaner, but for now it shows the general idea. I started making a more polished board that has a cleaner way to hold the MaKey MaKey, but I’m going to tinker with the prototype a bit more. I also don’t have the clay yet, so I substituted with conductive string.

Nevertheless, it works thus: the string starts at one end (in this iteration it is the ground but I may rework that) and when it touches the other nodes, they become activated. The goal is when the user hits the ending node, it will play the animations associated with the nodes. I also have a reset button to turn all the values back to zero to start anew.

Lastly, there is the board itself. I added a “rule” of play of sorts where the user must at least attend their class and go to a sort of group project meeting. Aside from that, there are options on what they want to do. I tried to use distance to show that some things may take more time and energy, it may be easier to just coast through the day just eating and working, but it may be harder to take time out to socialize and see friends.

I’m still wondering if the idea is coming across well, or if there are any other activities I could add (or even change out the ones I have). I still want to work on the layout of the nodes and the distance between them, if anyone has any thoughts.
