Meme Remix Sketch – DK Show

The DK Show was one of the very first Motion Capture TV show and it is weirdly written and forced songs are constantly popping up per episode. I decided to emphasis and exaggerate the random song transition by using random with counters. This show gives many mixed emotions which I tried to use a random visual effects filters to show that feeling, I adjusted them as best I could in order to not give people seizures and allow some random rest areas.

I used six videos in order to show the randomness of the new version of DKs home (inspired by DK Country). I also added in a more mature video by Don Hertzfeldt which caused me to add age restriction when uploading to youtube. I will post the videos below of the videos used for the entire project and references to the show.

There were a mandatory two songs per episode and all 88 songs would have fit perfectly in this project. The whole show is terrible ok with some disgusting and funny jokes. I would highly recommend for a drunk night watch or if you can see it with lowest standards.

Project Videos:

(Creeping song, worst character)
(Diddy to the rescue)
(Don Hertzfeldt Work)
(Donkey Kong Intro) Personally the only good song
(Want a Barrel)

Questions:

I tried to make it crazy but not exhausting, did I succeed in that category?

Would you also like a variety of audio manipulation or do you think that would be too much?

What do you think of the intentionally random Don Hertzfeldt cartoon being added to the playlist?

Each video currently plays for 40 seconds before changing, would a little bit of a random range make this better for an unexpected aspect?

I don’t think that you went overboard with the visual aspect. However, in my opinion, I think possibly adding small audio fluctuations to the meme, without it being too irritating, would also add nicely to it.

  2. Dylan says:

The visuals somehow add more to the character’s singing in the DK show. I especially like the black and white one.

  3. Jasmine says:

I like the visual effects you used in your remix, especially the pixelation.

  4. Lolita says:

I think the Don Hertzfeldt cartoon being added definitely gives viewers a break from the constant loud noise + visuals since in comparison the video is more monochrome and toned down visually and audibly.

  5. Kaamil says:

The visuals are great – it definitely ups the comedic effect as the video shifts and morphs to unintelligible forms.

I like how you loop around different filters. And as a response to the question, it does give me a very crazy sensation. Well done.

  7. Neha says:

Adding some audio manipulations would compliment the visual manipulation well, so I don’t think it would be too much.

I feel like the craziness never stepped over the line of unbearable and the animated clip between was really good for breaking up the chaos and adding an uneasy effect

  9. Garet says:

This was an interesting piece, a nice use of effects, but I think some more audio tampering could make it interesting. Perhaps if you used some tweaks to mess with what they said, but the visuals are enough to make the piece work quite well.

Interesting, I think adding some audio distortions would help exaggerate the already zany songs, and maybe even mixing the difference between a mature and kid’s should be interesting.
