Interactive Touch Project

For my final iteration of my bird government spy project I finished my animations and added a few more parts including a USB Bluetooth connector and a LED light as an eye. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the LED working in time for the in class demo but I think it still looks cool. Now when you touch each computer part it plays an animation on the screen simulating an experience of hacking into a bird drone.

This animation never took away from the surreal conspiracy mood of the piece, and due to the formality and straightness of every line, it further conveyed that the animations were government manufactured. As a neutral question, I want to know (because you stated your animations weren’t excellent in your own opinion), what would you do to improve the animations in your eyes. As is, the project is an entertaining comedic piece that makes excellent use of real world materials to build it’s interactive features.

Your project is very eyecatching with the unique choice of using birds! The animation style you chose didn’t take away from the piece, as the simplistic and clean lines pushed for an aspect of formality- much like how a government is. A neutral question I have is what pushed you to use red for a big part of your color palette? An opinion I have is to add sound effects during the scanning and files being transmitted to elevate the sense of sound.

Love this one! I notice that the color palate is consistent and meaningful throughout the project. I appreciate the comedic approach, this project was thoroughly entertaining . How did you end up coloring the bird – was that paint?

I love the sterile feel of the animations — they definitely do make the bird feel like secret government property haha 🙂 The use of the computer parts as conductive pieces to touch is super inventive as well.

I like the little glitchy effects you put on the animations. And the red and while color combination looks very aggressive, definitely makes me get the humor behind. Also I like the drawings, very neat. A question is, do you want to add more variations of animation?

This was mentioned in class, but I think it would be cool to give the pigeon feet or at least something to stand it up. It might involve changing the input a bit, but I think having it stand on its own would be pretty cool. Or having it perch on your hand.

I really like the use of actually computer parts to show the spying aspect of the pigeon and the use of animation brings the concept across very nicely.
