Introduce Yourself (John L)

My name is John Lemieux. I am a freshman that came from the town of Upton in Massachusetts. I like to draw different sketches and portraits in my free time. I usually tend to draw different characters in different kinds of poses. I plan on being an Electrical engineer in the future, but I also want to learn more about possibly becoming a game designer and broadening my views. I usually draw in my sketchbook, but I also have done some on a tablet. The drawings on my tablet aren’t very sophisticated, they are mostly some of my sketches with added detail and color. I came from a vocational school and my shop was Electronics and Engineering technology. I really like to experiment with different components and test the different outcomes of each circuit. Most of my creative expressions come from random ideas in my head that I like to jot down, so that I don’t forget them. I do like to reference different video games and different tv shows for my work. One of the most recent projects that I am proud of is just a very detailed sketch of a character that I liked from a tv show. One thing to know about me is that I like to play with technology, and I like to work with digital tools. I am also a little shy, especially during this time of getting acclimated to college life.

The sketch was created for a D&D campaign that I participated in
I was watching a show called “Date A Live” and I really liked the look of one of the characters
I really like to watch JoJo and really wanted to draw the stand “The Grateful Dead”

DETAILED. Even if your personal description is a breezy read, I cannot ignore just how detailed and well made this art is. The use of pleats and folds on the clothing alongside the skull details and the texturing make these drawings quite fascinating. You are very clearly on the path to making some fascinating artwork, and these will definitely help you stand out with enough effort and color put into them.

Dark: Your artwork somewhat alludes to death with all the cool skulls and exposed bones. The anime sketches also give off a mysterious vibe, especially the stand from JoJo but it drew me in and I got to notice all the small details such as the clothing ribbons and ruffles on the girl above. My eyes were looking at all the details!

Detailed – The art you do is very cool, and I think you have a lot of talent in drawing! I also felt connected to this post as well, as I can relate to finding new technological tools that I can play with.

I’m going to go with DETAILED as well, because your drawings really are. You capture a lot in your drawings and definitely show a certain dedication to them. Nice work!

Detailed: I am ALSO going to give you detailed, lol. Like the others have said, the level of detail you have put into your drawings is impressive. I think the Date A Live drawing shows this off the most. While drawing that much lace, ribbons, and decoration, you still managed to make her outfit read as one cohesive piece, and managed to keep it from being too busy, too. Great job!

Dark: It’s clear from your work that you are drawn towards darker themes like death. The sketches are all very well executed, you’re showing great talent despite being an electrical engineer first!

  9. Neha says:

Impressive- Your piece with the girl in front of the clock piece is so cool especially with the multiple layers you use to build the composition.

  11. Shiib says:

Dark – I love the grimey/gritty nature of your work! Even your anime-style woman seems to have some darker undertones

  12. Jasmine says:

Impressive – Your drawings all show a lot of thought and detail! I especially like the skeleton pieces.

  13. Oliver says:

Impressive – You put a lot of great work into your sketches and I also like your ungrateful dead reference. I am also a huge jojo fan as well.

  14. Sydney says:

Dark – There is a really grim theme with the skulls, skeletons, and all the eyes (or lack thereof in some cases) that is really interesting. It’s a very cool and mysterious theme.

  15. Stanley says:

I think I may go with ‘detailed’ since you seem to capture enough detail to convey the aesthetic of these characters.

  16. Kat says:

Familiar – I really like seeing you’re sketchbook drawings. Not only are they impressive, but they kind of give me nostalgia to when I filled up the sketchbooks my grandmother gave to me when I was younger.
