Jasmine Duerk

Hello! I’m Jasmine, from Shrewsbury, MA. I have been doing traditional art for my entire life, before moving to digital painting in high school. Now, I do a lot of digital character paintings and 3D box modeling. Although it is primarily a hobby, my involvement in art has brought me into both playing and making games. I am an experienced programmer, and I see interactive media as a way to bring these two different areas together. I also have a robotics background and generally enjoy technical challenges. In the future, I hope to create art tools for game development.

Most of my creative inspirations come from other artists I follow online, as well as from games I have played recently. I especially love the art direction in Hades, which I played obsessively during quarantine.

Outside of drawing and 3D modeling, I don’t really create many other forms of art, but I love to read! I’m an awful writer but I love books. 🙂

Here is some of my work:

STRIKING. There’s no better way to describe these pieces. No joke, many of these look like professional work, and honestly if this is the best work you do, definitely stick with it. Especially striking among these is the last piece depicting some gyroscopic thing (I don’t know). It literally, without exaggeration, looked real when I first looked at it. With more scrutiny I can see some flaws, but at the same time I see the scuff marks, the weathering and the light reflections and I am once again impressed. It’s striking work, top to bottom.

Detailed – all of your portraits are very well detailed. From the potion’s café to the giant robot, there clearly shows a lot of time and effort has went into all of these projects.

Gorgeous: Your pieces are so detailed the more I look at them; from the shading to the depth, and the highlights. From the bricks making up the wall to the flowy hair you added on your characters- everything seems very well-thought-out and executed with a great deal of care. I also love the bright and pastel color palette you chose to work with it keeps your artwork looking very clean, bright, and welcoming!

Colorful – Your art is so cool! I can’t tell what I like more, the environment art or character art, it all looks so good! You have a lot of talent and I am in awe at your art. Very well done, and great combination of colors!

Gorgeous: I love your digital paintings, I can’t stop looking at them. Your colors are meaningful and eye-catching to really make your details pop. Everything is amazing, but your character is really impressive, the green eyes are a great touch!

Impressive: You are a master at digital painting and modeling. Your color choices are really attractive and I am always drawn in. I love the little potion cafe especially- its so cute and fun to look at.

Impressive – the fact that both your paintings and modeling are at equal levels of high quality is an incredible feat that is very engaging to look at.

Impressive – your concept art is amazing!! Everything about the potions cafe I adore with the colors, attention to detail and cutesy vibe to it!

  9. Nathan says:

Striking: Every single one of these looks professional, the first two drawings in particular belong in picture frames in a gallery. The gyroscope definitely looked real. The only signs of it being digital were the polygonal curves and extremely flat shadow, both of which are direct results of the technology.

Gorgeous – Everything here is amazing! Each piece is incredibly detailed and atmospheric and the care put into each one really shines through. The often soft colors also blend together so well while also still being bold and unique. It’s awesome!

I will go with ‘inventive’ because of how professionally detailed the work is. Although the explanation may work for detailed, but this kind of work challenges and inspires people.

Also, I love the first piece of art because it reminds me of The Iron Giant, which is my favorite movie!

  16. Conor says:

Gorgeous – Wow, this looks really good and really professional! The shading is amazing, and the fog effect on the one drawing, and it seems like you have a lot of really great variety in your art.

  17. Kat says:

Gorgeous – Your work is stunning! As a robotics person, I love the first piece especially 🙂
