Final Project Sketch

For my final project, I’m working on one of my MQP prototypes. For my capstone, I’m designing an interactive museum exhibition exploring the different types of love seen during period of war or unrest. This installation will be similar to a shadow box, and when the visitor peers into the box, they will break the light sensor on the outside. That will then trigger a soundscape to play through two bluetooth speakers inside the box. The hope is for the visitor to be peering into the room through a crack in the wall and feel more immersed in the situation with the soundscape.

This is the paper prototype that I made for my MQP already, so for this project I’ll be focusing on how I can hide the wiring and reflect the sound best in the box. Also, ignore the audio in the background- I was having a rough night and was watching a comfort anime.

Neutral Question: How many love scenes from periods of war/unrest are you planning on displaying?

There’s going to be 6 on display for visitors to interact or view. Some of them will be interactive in various degrees through different ways (one of them is going to use Transmedia, so looking through social media accounts to learn about different experience in modern times).

Awesome idea! How do you plan on making the wiring accessible when constructing the art piece so it does not get in the way/is seen?

On the outside of the box, I’m going to have smaller foam boxes coming out to make it look like the stones making up the wall are crumbling away. The boxes making up that feeling are going to be hollow, so the sensors and Arduino wiring are hidden from sight. Inside, the speakers are bluetooth.

I’m probably going to attach the wiring outside first, and then incorporate outside boxes/stones after to make sure I can adjust the wiring if I need.

It’s awesome that you already have a headstart on this piece. Outside of presentation (if there’s more detail you wish to add), all you really have to focus on is the program. At this point, you’re on the right track to make an interesting and immersive project.
