Here is the update! After we had class, I started to add some of the outside paint and texturing to better show what I had envisioned. Originally, I was hoping to only need a few stones on the front to convey that the box was a piece of the wall. However, now seeing how it looks, for the final version I will be covering the entire front, top, and two sides with these fake stones to better convey the installation’s setting/origin. When you’re watching this, the fan in the lab is extremely loud in the first minute or so, so just be careful with how high your volume is. I ended up including a “simulated” version of the experience at the end, so people could better hear the audience since the fan drowned everything out in the demo. I tried embedding the video and it looks fine in the editor mode, but on the published post it only shows the YouTube link- not too sure why that is, eh.
Thanks for an awesome term and feedback! It was so fun to work with everyone and see what each of us came up with for each project.
This concept is super cool and I can’t wait to see it finalized with all the other “museum” interactive pieces, I will definitely be following your project outside of class 🙂
This shadow box idea is great – the sound that turns on makes the experience so immersive.
I really like the concept and I can’t wait to see the future project. You also did a nice job hiding the arduino wires within the device.
