Hi there! My name is Carrie. I’m from Franklin, MA which is just 40 minutes from Worcester.
I have been creating illustrations since I was younger. It started with fanart of characters from the Warrior Cats series in 2009, and continued with exploration of different art styles, situations, mediums, and subjects for artwork such as humans, fantasy characters, and anthropomorphic animals (I’m sorry). Art is a part of my everyday life, it is my primary form of income and it is how I stay motivated to do other, non-art-related tasks. Art is my main way of letting my creativity and thoughts come out.
I have created most of my artwork digitally, on programs like Painttool SAI, Procreate, Photoshop, and recently, Clip Studio Paint. I am quite new to traditional art but it is something that I decided to start exploring over the summer. The concept of painting on paper using acrylic or watercolor is so foreign to me, it’s going to take a lot of practice to master those tools. Markers are another story entirely.
I changed majors to IMGD from CS, so I have experience in programming. Unfortunately, I got extremely burnt out from early CS classes that I just knew I could no longer pursue a career in programming. I have never had the opportunity to use programming to create art, however, so I think that this class can provide a different perspective on the world of programming that conventional CS classes didn’t.
Other arts that I enjoy are music, poetry, crafts, and theater. I have been interested in combining different art forms like visual arts with theater, or traditional paintings with crafts. I want to find new and interesting ways to put my characters in scenes and environments that illustration alone cannot achieve.
I draw inspiration from video games and TV shows with unique art styles, old adult cartoons, and 60s / 70s culture. Art style is extremely important to me in any media I consume. Art style is an artist’s way of putting a piece of themselves in to their work. It’s like a signature. When I look at someone’s art style, I feel like I am seeing a part of them I couldn’t have seen by just looking at them or talking to them. I absolutely love how art, film, fashion, humor, and human interaction have evolved over the years.
I just want to flex that over the summer, I became the 55th best Sculptor player in North America & Europe on Identity V (asymmetrical horror mobile game).
Here’s some art I’ve made recently!:

CUTE. Apology accepted for the furries. In all seriousness though, the pieces you’ve made are nicely made and notably very colorful. I also like your description, as I can totally sympathize with burning out on programming (as I’ve had a problem with classes like that). It’s also obvious you were having a lot of fun with the shapes for these pieces, and there are a lot of dynamic and different poses being used. Whether these pieces were for practice or not, the use of color and posing are quite well done, so nice work!
Quirkey- I really enjoy how playful and colorful your art style is. Even though two of your subject are more on the supernatural side or may be considered scary in different designs (the mermaid and specter, I believe?), they way you have drawn them conveys both a sense of other worldly beings and being cute. It’s a nice change compared how these subjects have been portrayed in the past.
Quirky: Your use of color and cute facial expressions throughout your pieces was a fun aspect! Although I am unfamiliar with anthropomorphic animals, you captured poses in a very impressive way, love the hands. Also, the ghoulish characters had a lot of personality with the inviting yet mysterious vibe you were able to capture with their attire and facial expressions.
Quirky – your pieces have a lot of character and emotion in them. A lot of them have a very confident, smug look about them, in both the anthropomorphs and the ghoul-like characters.
Familiar: Hi Carrie 🙂 I love your furry art so much and you’ve improved so much over the last year its really cool to watch. I also agree that style is really important in learning who an artist is, and your style really reflects your personality well. The goat girl remains one of my favorite things you have ever made she’s SO CUTE.
Colorful – I like the variety of color in all of your works, it really brings out the characters.
Colorful – your character art is so colorful and creative! I really like the bright and playful vibes of all of your concepts!
Familiar – I love your bright, poppy character art. Working with you in the past has always been a pleasure 😀 I want to see more cleaning-product-based love interests.
Cute: Are you embarrassed of your characters? I get it if you’re just pre-emptively addressing people who find it weird, but as someone who doesn’t I think the designs are great. They’re all colorful and distinct, just really strong pieces overall.
Be proud of yourself. Typing this separately so it stands out.
Cute – I find the characters to be colorful and full of personality. I could definitely see them being animated into a cartoon or a videogame.
I think I may go with ‘striking’ because I love the way you view art style as a person’s signature. Also I find people with that much dedication to art inspiring.
Colorful – I love everything you’ve shown! The mix of colors blends very well and remains cohesive even with different tones and such. You mention the importance of style and yours is really cool. There is a very clear understanding of anatomy and color theory and it all works very well.
