My name is Warren Andress, and I am a Game Designer from Hazlet, New Jersey. Ever since I was young, I’ve had a desire to analyze and create art. At the time, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be a film director or a traditional artist but both of those visions allowed me to experiment in different forms of art, as it allowed me to apply theory that I had gained from one art to another. Over the years, I have gained a variety of knowledge and skills related to different fields of art (music, visual, game, programming, etc).
I’ve worked in different engines and programming languages over the years, specifically ones that pertain to games but I am great at adapting to new challenges and finding a means of resolution to anything that crosses my path. I’ve used languages like python, java, javascript, love2d, GML, and C# to create interactive games. Outside of programming, I also enjoy writing music as I can play the synthesizer, bass, and drums. I also like to draw to alleviate stress, but that is why I generally practice so many forms of art. Movies that have inspired me would be Terminator, Star Wars, Total Recall, The Wall, and a Clockwork Orange. Bands that have inspired me would be The Who, Pink Floyd, The Strokes, and LCD Soundsystem.
The most recent creative project that I am proud of was a game called “Racoon Revenge.” It’s a game published by MassDigi that I had the honor of freelancing on as a level designer. It is the first published game that I have credit on and I am very excited to have it in my portfolio. I have also worked on music over the summer, so I am very proud of the progress I have done. I am very excited to continue working in various arts, especially the interactive arts.
Quirky – I like the style that the video games have. The crumpled paper is a very creative idea for the use of text.
Clever: I really enjoyed the music, and I realize how much creative effort was put into producing the varying beats and rhythms.
Also creating a game as a freelancer calls for tons of ideas, definitely something not everyone can do! Super clever coming up with these forms of art.
If there was a badge for BUMPIN I’d give it to you because I love the music, its vibe and its energy – definitely got my head nodding. So for an official badge lets go with INVENTIVE because your music definitely has a distinct touch to it. Nice work Warren!
Familiar – I was interning at MassDigi when Racoon Revenge was released so it’s exciting to see that others are still working on it! I feel like level design is super challenging.
Impressive – the game looks so cool and I am a big fan of your music!
quirky- Love your sound! Especially your second and third songs.
Quirky: your music has a personal flair which is very engaging. Cool stuff.
GORGEOUS: While the music you’ve made is quite nicely designed, I was especially interested in the last track you had listed, which you called ROAD. It’s very similar to a LoFi piece, which surprised me with it’s sheer quality. It encourages me to listen to the piece with better headphones to get a better impression of the sounds and how they blend together. The progression is especially good, where it turns from a pleasant drone into it’s highpoint that’s way more melodic. It’s a great song, and it shows that you have some real strengths when it comes to digital music.
Clever – I love the way you use other arts in your own (tv/movie audio in your music). It’s one of my favorite subgenres of music that I’ve been hearing lately and I think it’s great stuff to chill to. I’m a fan of what you’ve shared!!!
Quirky – The first song sounds like something from a Tim Schafer game with zany and coming together.
Funny: I can already tell I like your sense of humor. It’s in your audio, your photos, and I’m eager to see how it manifests this term.
Quirky – Your music sounds really unique, and the screenshots from the game honestly look like a professional mobile game.
Impressive – Your audio work is very diverse and has a lot of good layers to it. They each capture a specific mood and it’s really cool to see (or I guess hear) such variety come from a single artist.
Clever – your audio and music is super cool! It fits the vibes and mood of your projects so well and sounds very good
I think I may go with ‘quirky’ for having many unique and interchangeable interests.
I would have to say you’re impressive with all of your talents and skills. I think it’s awesome that you’ve been able to develop a game as well!
Impressive – I think it’s really cool that you worked as a level designer on a published game. I love Pink Floyd and the Strokes and A Clockwork Orange is one of my favorite movies. Try reading the book it makes no sense 🙂
