Hannah Miller- Introduce Yourself

Hi Everyone!!

My name is Hannah. I am a senior concept artist, and I really want to work on games for children and young adults once I graduate. I was born and raised in New Hampshire, but moved to cape cod in highschool where I currently live. Heres my face:

And since I’m a concept artist, here’s one of the paintings I finished over the summer:

Art is a huge part of my life. I have loved creating in all different mediums since I was a toddler, and I am structuring my entire career around art. I only began painting digitally my sophomore year of highschool for a game jam I was a part of, though- an awesome experience which led me to be here. If you haven’t been a part of a game jam yet you should- IGDA does one every term and they’re so much fun !!

I have been displayed in several gallerys for my artwork, and am going to have a piece on show at the upcoming arts and sciences week (you should all go to that by the way, Its currently set for September 27-October 1). This is the piece I am showing, called ‘Home’, about how the meaning of home has shifted during the pandemic:

As far as other creative interests, I really like pre-made craft kits in my free time- things like paint by numbers, cross stitch, or those really annoying wood/metal projects you get to assemble. Its a nice way to create without having to make as many decisions. Here’s a cross stitch i’ve been working on during quatantine (its huge by the way- 24x36in):

I’m not just an artist- I also really love playing video games and watching TV/Movies. Right now, My favorite game is the new Pokémon Snap, and I’m working on rewatching breaking bad and game of thrones.

Colorful: The Wave of Kanagawa piece is gorgeous! I can tell so much effort was needed to complete it. You also used various colors throughout the quarantine and first drawing which really grabbed my attention- it balanced the super bright wave and tied your work together to show a well-rounded set.

Clever: I like that piece about covid, it really hits me with how that whole time was just watching the world become hermits and living in artificial cubicles. Very cool that you managed to capture that with the meaningful colors and composition you chose.

dark – specifically for your Covid piece. It’s a heavy reminder of the world we live in and the craziness that has been escalating these last few years

Clever – Seeing the Home piece brings back memories of what the first month of the pandemic was like for me. It also makes me see how now people are hanging out more how unfamiliar everything is now.

Clever: ‘Home’ is my favorite piece, it definitely evokes the quarantine experience. I feel like the longer I look at it the more details I notice which enhance it further. The cross stitch stands out too, looks like it took an eternity.

Thought provoking – the detail and lighting in your concept art is really amazing! The piece on covid 19 was especially interesting to think about with the effects of the pandemic

I think I may go with ‘thought-provoking’ since your work astounds me and I don’t know if I can say much else because your artistic experience and determination is beyond my current capabilities.

Striking – I love that very complex piece with the scenery and statues I think that backgrounds / landscapes are so hard to draw and I can tell you really put a lot of work into it so great job also i love breaking bad i miss the goth girl.. ily
