Local Instagram – Final project sketch

Instagram is a social platform that a lot of us shares our crazy life on it. But have you ever tried a real-life Instagram? Now, this is your chance!

This project creates a simple real-world Instagram post by capturing one participant’s face with optional filters. Other participants can press like or press share which will increase the popularity of the post. Participants can choose to save the screenshot and get their screenshot to send to their email address.

The software we will be using is MaxMSP since it’s easy to implement image processing in it.

Neutral Question: How will you capture a participant’s face in the program?

    1. Kobayashi Chika says:

There will not be a fancy OpenCV face tracking

  2. Dylan says:

How will the popularity of a post be reflected on the screen?

    1. Kobayashi Chika says:

The UI will look just like Instagram and the virtual popularity will be shown on screen

  3. Kaamil says:

How will the filters be changed?

    1. Kobayashi Chika says:

The participant will use a keypad. I am planning to use the same controller that I used in my midterm project. It will be an Adafruit Macropad

  4. Oliver says:

What will you be using as inputs for this project?

    1. Kobayashi Chika says:

I will use Adafruit Macropadd as the master input and the StemmaQT 4 keys controller as the rater’s input. I am planning on having a normal like, mega like, normal share, and subscribe button.

It would be much clearer if you can put a full picture of the sketch somewhere in the post. Are you planning to design the interface in a similar aesthetics as Instagram?

  6. Neha says:

Will the statistics on a user’s post popularity be saved somewhere in data? Or is it just for show in that time being while they’re behind the camera?

    1. Kobayashi Chika says:

The user can have their final result saved as a screenshot and get emailed.

  7. Conor says:

You could try to make this into a competition between users; each user could get a chance to make the best post they can with the filters given and instead of simply liking/sharing the other users could rate your post on a scale system
