Arduino Sketch – Everything comes Together TV Edition

Since everything is wrapping up I wanted to practice bringing everything I had learned together into a fun Arduino experiment. I wanted to simulate an old TV static with bad service, such as a watching TV in the middle of nowhere vibe, but with a modern feel and smoother polish. This was fun finding the correct effects as well as understanding how the Arduino software works.

I tried doing it all in one hand but did not realize that I was holding my phone straight up, my bad on my part. I wanted to show off the sensors and show what each one activated what effect. I tried to also show the Max patch. but if it is not clear and you want to see a photo of the max patch just let me know.

Light Sensor: Color effect and pixelates images

Tap Sensor: Changes video and duster effect

Slider: Slider effect for delaying video

A lot of my time spent on making the effects not become too straining on the eyes and making them correlate nicely with the sensor inputs. I noticed that the temperature sensor was not changing as I liked. I tried to have fun since it was my first time using Arduino. Also something funny I noticed was that Gir’s eyes are very different in the video than as the featured image and this was the only thing changed when the solarizer was applied to the max patch jitter window. (if anyone wants to take a crack as to the difference between the video Gir and featured image Gir let me know).
