For my Meme Remix I chose to work with some well known songs that either have been “memed” or used ubiquitously. This includes:
Welcome to the Internet – Bo Burnham
A Mash up of Daft Punk songs
Lemaitre – Closer (To my understanding this song of theirs is used in many commercials and I recognize it every time it plays, CHECK OUT THEIR OTHER MUSIC, they are so much more than this one song!)
Wonderland – Caravan Palace (This one got memed, but holy fluff, please check out all the animations and music videos for Caravan Palace!!! They range from amazingly and artistically absurd to evoking a feeling of pure bop!)
Otherwise, I was only able to set it up to where you can take small word Blips of each song and say the full sentence of “Just imagine; There’s no need to panic; Around the world; and I can feel my heart beat”
I guess my inspiration for picking these songs was the fact that even with these songs being well know, I know a lot more about the artists’ other music or have a more deep connection with their music. But here’s a small clip of the remix in action.
I like the Daft Punk song! Is there any specific reason behind the choice of each song?
For each of the songs, I chose them based off of how well people would know them, even if they were slightly obscure for the reason why someone might know the song.
For Caravan’s Wonderland, it go memed on Tik-tok,
Lemaitre’s Closer is used often in samples for different commercials.
Welcome to the Internet by Bo Burnham is well know
Daft Punk broke up this year (;^;) and most people know of them
I love the Bo Burnham content, it’s super relevant and his stuff is definitely something fun to play with
An interesting mix of sources to be certain. I would love to see them blend together, since some of them could potentially work really well is turned into a fully fledged mashup.
I would like to blend them better too. I planned on using some background music to have each one overlayed on as well. I would need to edit the pitches to make them match though.
