My project is meant to showcase the underrepresented usefulness of the “pesky” dandelion! The user interacts with the model by pressing hidden screws around the flower petals and leaves to trigger the animation.
The animation was created using Wick editor (this was my first time animating ahh)
(also my video quality ruined itself, not sure how)

The drawing I chose to display was how the dandelion lies and spreads its new seeds. These seeds soon are replaced by images of Medicine, Salad, and honey/bees.
The medicine is representative of the medicinal uses this plant offers such as providing antioxidants, reducing cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, etc.
-The salad is meant to highlight how the plant can be used in cooking
-Lastly, the honey and be display how the flowers are great for pollination and can provide us with honey!
Artist Question: How can I add sound effects to my individual animations? I can’t seem to make it work.
——-UPDATED: ——–
Many recommendations were revolved around adding sound effects(wind, nature sounds)and even brief voice overs explaining the reason behind certain animations such as the bee, salad, and medicine appearing on screen. Hopefully, these changes clarify the piece and make it more fun!
New features are shown below:
I find the background for the animation very pleasing to the eye. Nice color choices of making some areas darker than others. One way to add effects is by using the playlist command that allows for audio files. Having wind noises trigger when the dandelion spreads the seeds would add nicely to the animation. What materials is the physical flower controller made out of? One opinion I have about the animation is making the seeds have animation. From the animation, I thought it was unclear about the seeds spreading over the screen.
The controller is composed of screws that are held by the alligator clips! The wires were hidden throughout the felt flower petals and pipe cleaner stem. Ty for the advice : )
A very cute and nice build, especially the interactive portion. This project makes it clear you’re a huge fan of crafts, considering how well executed the dandelion board was. The face that you also succeeded in integrating the makeymakey into it is simply amazing. For my personal question, I want to ask, if there’s anything about the animation you would want to include, what would it be?
Ty! and animation wise, I really would like to add audio and the dandelion seed being planted into the ground : )
I like the installation of the dandelion very much, especially how you managed to get the conductive wires inside while keeping everything else look completely natural. As a respond to the artist question, an easy approach could be first find some sound effects you want to add on Freesound, and put the sound effects and animation together in video editors like Premiere. And finally you output both the sound and video on max. Do you want to add any music along with the sound effects?
I would only add sound effects as I feel music would make the piece too chaotic; ty for the suggestion
I would recommend checking the audio interface, when I first tried to use it, I found that it was turned off and that was the reason it was not working. The design of the interface is amazing! Why did you choose those alternative uses? In my opinion, it was hard to discern why the salad and medicine appeared, maybe some text should be triggered along with the animation.
Ty! I chose the alternative uses to hopefully give a sense of surprise for viewers, as oftentimes medicine isn’t really correlated with a plant grown in some backyard. Also I felt as though they were just interesting to learn about
For the sound you need to put the audio on its own track. I really like the colors and the dandelion model is very impressive. How were you able to make all the connections without any interference with the fuzzy sticks?
The pipe cleaners being wrapped around the wires didn’t really interfere as the alligator clips were not touching them. The clips were poking out of the felt and pipe cleaners.
I loved this piece! You were able to hide the wires and alligator clips very well, and it looks like a real flower! Some sound effects to go along with the animations would be really cute, like some buzzing bees or breeze.
Ty! I def will be adding some cute sound effects here and there
