For my interactive touch project, one of the first personal ‘truths’ which came to my mind was a contradicting idea where from different types of sci-fi/fantasy media there are often messages such as “everyone is the same” and “accepting differences.” I love both of these ideas, but they are contradictory from a definition standpoint. So, I thought I could try to portray three different mainstream fictional creatures and create short animatics with each one triggered by a central artistic piece through Makey Makey.

The animatics will have a few fictional characters such as a goblin, elf, and ogre interacting in ways demonstrating how they are different from each other, but also a similarity between them. For example, the goblin and ogre will demonstrate their respective height differences, but will be laughed at by the elf (since goblins and ogres are often seen as ‘evil’). This idea is not definitive, it is to help elaborate the theme.

I am planning to expand on this piece but if there are any suggestions for demonstrating a theme of coinciding both similarities and differences, I would appreciate them.
Would the characters be created with color or be monochromatic?
If time permits, I will add color.
How will the viewer interact with this?
The player will touch one of the graphite lines on a piece of paper.
So regarding this piece, I would say the concept is sound, as is, and that each piece should be expanded upon. Outside of the appearance of each creature, I think it would be a good point to expand on the concept. Make the animations interesting, add some color to the input or output, put in some music as a leitmotif to represent each character (if you’re feeling ambitious). There’s a lot of potential, but I want to ask above all, is there supposed to be a conclusion to this piece to show the full unity of every race? If so, what’s your intended message?
I think my intended message is to acknowledge differences, but remember that everyone can have similar flaws.
How does the visual design of the drawing connect to the idea you’re working towards? Does it elicit emotion?
I think this is a cute concept! I’m excited to see it, and I like the simplistic style you sketched in, I would think it would be kind of cute for the final as well.
