Interactive Touch Project – World Volume

For this project, I wanted to demonstrate how the world has gotten so much “quieter” for me since the start of the pandemic. I decided to use concerts as a way to show this, with three animations. The first animation is of a real in-person concert(loudest volume), the second animation is of a person hanging out with friends, singing and dancing in a small group (medium volume), and then last animation is of a person alone at an at home concert (quietest volume). The interactive element of this is the world volume buttons on the left-hand side of the screen. When the viewer touches a different volume bar it triggers a different scene and audio.

Moving forward, I want to improve the audio. I think that adding music along with the side effects will help tie it together. Additionally, I think it would look better to have the videos loop until a new volume is pressed, which is something else I am hoping to implement soon.

Disclaimer: In photo used as the background of the second scene was taken in a pre-pandemic time which is why the masks are drawn on!

Any other suggestions on how to make it flow better between animations/sounds? Or how to keep the quality of the videos when they are put in max?

I love the vibrant colors on the character. It makes him look alive!
    Neutral Question:
Where did the inspiration come from for the flowing colors?
    Artist Question.
For animations I think what you did for the second scene is good. Like how he slowly pops in. As for better picture quality, I can drop my max patch.

      Opinion.
I think the animation flows very well. I feel a lot of energy (and it gets less naturally) which is a nice touch

  2. Artist Question Answer:
Sorry I don’t how to keep the same quality. The quality of mine also went down. I think it depends on how high the resolution is when you upload.
    Statement of Meaning:
The colors matched with the feeling and mood.
    Neutral Question:
Do you think you will animate more items in the background like the musical notes?
    Opinion:
I really like the colors and the detail like how you added music notes moving at the end (in the background)

The first scene is currently the only one without a background animation but I really them in the other two so I’ll probably add that!

    Opinion:
I think the combination of your physical volume settings and the animations/sound effects are very effective at communicating your ideas.

    Artist’s Question:
I would say adding a fade in/out to the sound effects might make the transitions less abrupt.

Statement of meaning: The interface attached to the display looks good and is a nice way of presenting it.

Opinion: I like the smooth animations and the colors you chose, I think they are very effective.

Artists question: maybe you could make the sounds continue looping while you have a scene selected.
