Final Project – A Hopeful Future

on

For this project I wanted to represent the obstacles that came across during this term and my desire to overcome them for the sake of my well being. I wanted to capture the obstacles through this dark ball that moves haphazardly to portray chaos and spontaneity. Towards the end of the demo, you will see this dark ball dissipate and be replaced by a white ball that later becomes much more vibrant and colorful, sprouting flowers and having the sun appear.

I used both the makey makey and the Arduino board for this project. For the Arduino board, I used the force sensor, photo sensor, and the LED common cathode. I used the force sensor to trigger an animation where the flowers are sprouting (you will see in the video), I used the photo sensor to trigger an animation where the sun appears (you will see in the video), and I used the LED common cathode to light up when a certain animation is triggered (you will see in the video). I made the animations through Photoshop this time and I honestly enjoyed animating in that than Adobe Animate CC because of the various brush textures I can choose from.

The most challenging thing about this project was getting my sensors and LED to work as my breadboard was not properly working and I had to resort to borrowing one from a friend. I also had trouble trying to have the max program send data over to the arduino board and vise versa at first.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy!
