Final Project – Monotone to Color

For my final project, I wanted to show hope for the future and the outcome of this pandemic. I have 4 inputs that when they are triggered will display an animation. Each input has a meaning and that meaning corresponds to the message of the animation.

The four inputs and their meanings for me are:

Light sensor – Positivity

Force Sensor – Enforcing and following safety precautions

Microphone – Communication with one another

Makey Makey Touch – Solution that ends the pandemic and spreads color in the world

The aniamtions:

The light sensor animation has a light bulb turn on and splash color around it. This is to convey a person being optimistic and spreading positivity instead of hate during this difficult time.

The force sensor animation shows a blue face mask and color dots coming out of them. Then a red pulse is shown blowing away from the mask. The color dots are there to show that by wearing a mask and following safety measures, you are contributing to making the world safe again. The red pulse waves represents how important it is to wear a mask and try to mitigate the effects of the pandemic.

The microphone animation shows a line of houses and dashes connecting them. The dashes represents info and when it lights up with color it goes through each house. When the color reaches a house, it lights up meaning it has received info about the pandemic or world news in general. It is crucial to stay in communication to stay positive and alert.

The Makey Makey touch animation shows Earth pulsating with many colors one at a time until it finally splashes with all the colors. This is to show my vision for how the world will be in the future. I hope that it is safe and that the pandemic will be over so this gray and difficult situation can be colorful again safe.

This is not the finished version of the project and there will be an update soon! Any suggestions to make it better on the physical side or the animation side are welcome!

UPDATE:

I made a physical model to hide wires and provide an eye appealing interactive piece.

Below are two updated videos showing the animations and demonstration of my project.

Finally, below is my Documentation Video that shows my entire project.
