I chose the Taj Mahal as the basis for my layers project. I was inspired by some of the vehicles\/earth scene drawings by Cove Marquetry (Examples – Image 1). I started thinking about old cars and structures like the Disney Castle, which I deemed too complicated. One of my goals as a traveler is to make it to all 7 of the “modern” wonders of the world, so I took a look at their pictures side by side (Image 2). The Taj Mahal (one I have not yet been to) seemed to have, in my opinion, the best layers to work with. Plus, as a structural engineer, I spend a lot of time looking at buildings… Image 3 is my simplified sketch. I plan to use the plywood that I bought for the first print since I have extra material left over.<\/p>\n\n\n
