For the layers project, I wanted to cutout a piece that would resemble the monster icons from the Monster Hunter game. I choose Rathalos as it is usually the mascot of the series. I bought wood from the makerspace and colored the piece using acrylic paints I had on hand. I tried to design the layers in a way that would add depth to certain parts of the creature like the wings. The image on the left shows a first draft of the idea that was too small so many of the pieces got lost. The image on the right is the final cut of this piece using a bigger scale. If I were to change one thing I probably wouldn’t have painted it and would have instead stained the wood to keep more of the wood texture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
