For my lantern project, I decided to do a shadow box inspired lantern. There are two layers of trees that are framed by a starry night sky. I used 1\/8 in plywood for the frame of the box and the tree layers, parchment paper as a diffuse tool, and fairly lights as my lighting component. I was able to put some of the bulbs closer to the paper in order to get that star effect. I used a kerf value and teeth to assembly the basic box. I used super glue to glue the parchment paper and second layer of tress to the frame, and I used tape to secure the fairy lights to where I wanted them to sit. At first, I was going to have the box be completely closed, but I decided to keep the bottom open to use as a stand for the box. I also decided to take the back off in order to allow for easier access to the lighting components. I chose not to stain, paint, or finish the wood because I wanted a more rustic look to the piece. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
