For my layers project, I decided to make an acrylic lotus. As I was working on my design, I realized that I could also cut 5×5 inch squares out around the initial design to get a negative space version of my initial design. I bought transparent green colored acrylic, transparent clear acrylic, and transparent pink and yellow florescent acrylic for the project. I used the vector cuts on the laser cutter to cut out all of my pieces and secured them using super glue. For the negative space lotus, the glue was placed in the corners of the squares. For the lotus flower, the glue was placed in the center of each piece and the top center piece had clue covering the entirety of it. Because I got colored acrylic and it cut cleanly, I did not stain, paint, or finish the piece at all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
