Here’s the working design for my lantern. I have a 3D printed base and pillars holding in wood on four sides and a top plate to keep the pillars at the right distance. The 3D printed part is structurally a pretty awful design to be honest and it will make most 3D printers cry but that’s alright I believe in them and it will work for this purpose. The circle in the middle is for the LEDs, which will be a 8-LED ring with a cutout in the bottom to let the wires go through. The bottom of the print will be empty and require supports so I can fit an Arduino nano under it. I have my pattern designed below, it’s a Tiki face with red vector engraves and black vector cuts. I’ll put some filter paper or something behind the cutouts to diffuse the light. My biggest artist question\u2122 is about the Tiki face itself. I’d like feedback on the design as a whole, and more specifically about if the design is too simplistic or if the amount of cutouts to let light through (black lines) is too much or too little.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
