I made a storybook-esque piece in Digital Painting that I would like to turn into a physical piece — the original work had a frame\/border that I think would be neat to have going around the outside of the frame. I plan to split it into rough parts like in the black and white version on the right — my initial ideas for sections are below. I’ll have to do a bit of work to convert the textured painting into something that won’t take five billion years to raster engrave (will probably end up converting textures to a bunch of little lines, like in the piece on the right), but I’m hoping it shouldn’t be a horrible process since I made each part of the painting on a separate layer. My backup plan if it goes horribly wrong and the engraving doesn’t work well is to go more ~minimalist~ and just stain\/paint the different pieces (like the piece on the left) to provide a bit more visual interest than plain wood. For simplicity, I’m going to use the standard wood from the Makerspace, but I will likely end up buying a frame from a craft store or something to use as a base. If I feel ambitious I might try to add some painted details on a piece of glass \/ acrylic in the front like this<\/a>, but we’ll see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
